Talk Title: Control = Prediction + Engineering: Lessons from Evolution, Epidemics, and Society

December 2023
Friday 15th - 10:30am

In this presentation, Professor Ugbunu will explore our ambitions to steer and control complex biological systems. All of these systems are limited both by the engineering tools to manipulate systems, and more importantly, our predictive models for how these systems will behave. Using evolutionary biology and epidemiology as examples, he will highlight the conceptual, technical, and ethical barriers to using predictive models to steer complex biological and social systems.
